If you thought the winner of the Howe Long Haul Award would be a little crazy racing on the heels of Hurricane Matthew, you would be right. In fact, it was Jordan Bernloeher collecting the Award award driving the Plum Crazy Purple Dodge of Stevens Miller Racing. Bernloeher also completed the event with a career-best fourth place finish. The native of Lakeville, Minnesota became the second Challenger driver of 2016 to win the $850 Howe award.
Shane Lewis also had a big day at Homestead, setting a new track record in qualifying and scoring a dominating victory in his Robinson Racing Howe Chevy Camaro.
In the previous event at Virginia International Raceway, the Howe Long Haul Award went Brian Kubinski from Shorewood, Illinois in his Hawk Brake Camaro. Bernloeher and Kubinski are the most recent of nine different Howe Long Haul Award winners in the 12 race 2016 schedule.
